Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation regulates all railways under provincial jurisdiction operating in Alberta and acts as a liaison with municipalities, consultants, industry, and the general public. The department develops safety programs for industrial, short-line and amusement railways. Programs include inspection, audit and compliance, equipment, signals and operation of railways.
